The Post Institute was founded in 1999 by Bryan Post and Kristi Saul. The Post Institute has published over 100 books, DVDs, CDs, MP3s, webinars, and articles on the topic of parenting children who have experienced pre-birth and early life trauma.
The Post Institute model of parenting has been put to the test by parents across the globe, as well as foster care agencies, adoption agencies, group homes, and treatment centers.
Nancy Thomas is the author of one of the first books (When Love Isn't Enough) that offered logic, explanation and basic interventions that parents can use for displaced children. Whether the displacement is through foster care, kinship or adoption, her experience and her research is that of hope!
ATTACh is an international coalition of professionals and families dedicated to helping those with attachment difficulties by sharing our knowledge, talents, and resources.
Attachment disorder can be triggered by abuse, neglect, abandonment, separation from birth parents, birth trauma, maternal depression, chronic illness, frequent moves and placements, and even divorce.
Beacon House is a team of professional, warm and highly experienced chartered psychologists, psychotherapists and occupational therapists. They provide a wide range of mental health assessments and effective therapies for children and young people, families and adults who are experiencing mental health difficulties, emotional and behavioral problems and relationship conflict. They have a special interest in repairing the effects of trauma and attachment disruption.
Empowered to Connect (ETC) is an attachment rich community focused program that exists to support, resource, and educate caregivers.
ETC’s resources and training materials are especially helpful for caregivers of children who have experienced adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), toxic stress, and maltreatment. They fundamentally believe that every human being has great capacity to grow and overcome adversity when cared for in supportive, connected, and nurturing environments.
Dr. Perry has conducted basic neuroscience and clinical research examining the cognitive, behavioral, emotional, social, and physiological effects of neglect and trauma in children, adolescents and adults. His clinical research over the last ten years has been focused on integrating emerging principles of developmental neuroscience into clinical practice. His work has resulted in the development of innovative clinical practices and programs working with maltreated and traumatized children.
Attachment-focused therapy is focused on improving the relationship between the child and the caregiver.
